As I have posted about recently, I am on the semi-recovery end from the mono I contracted in February. My family’s long-ago-scheduled trip to Disney World occurred the week before I got my diagnosis. When they heard about it, all those who had suffered with mono as adolescents or adults had one thing to say about it: how in the name of all that was holy did I make it through a Disney vacation with the Epstein-Barr running amok in my blood stream?
It’s not like I am one of those people who typically slogs on with grim determination in the face of physical hardship. I will happily lie down for days because I stubbed my toe. A cold turns me into a blithering, whiny mess. I am, even in full health, lazy as hell. Seriously, if I had a house elf (or two) I would spend all day reading while sitting cross-legged on the sofa with a lovely hot cup of tea. I am indolent, not full of willpower and true grit.
So how did I do it?
Well, I am sure that my desire not to disappoint my daughters did play into it; I’m stubborn when I need to be. However, I also think that the reason it took so long for the mono to become ‘bad enough’ to make me capitulate and scurry to the doctor was because my Plexus stuff was keeping me going.
Seriously. Not only did my Plexus regimen (Oh how I wish they would call it Plexus Strong instead of Plexus Slim) of pink drink and probio5 and X-factor vitamins make my fibromyalgia symptoms skedaddle, it gave me more energy than I had had since my early twenties. It’s also helped my strengthen my immune system in general. When I got a “cold” in February and strep throat, I realized how long it had been since my last bout of either. It turns out that it took mono in all it’s evil viral glory to make me vulnerable to strep again.
I didn’t realize how tired I was at first because with my Plexus stuff I was still doing better than I had when I wasn’t taking it and just dealing with fibromyalgia. It wasn’t until I was in Florida and was forgetting to do the pink drink some mornings because of the change in routine that the mono was able to flatten me. Still, I think it was the Plexus that allowed me to muster the physical wherewithal to meander all over the Magic Kingdom despite being deathly ill.
Added to that, I seem to have shrunk. My light-weight clothes from last summer, which I have had occasion to wear in Florida, are much looser on me. At the end of this month I’ll have been on Plexus for a year, and should measure/weigh myself just to see if anything else went away with my fibro pain.
If any of you are interested in trying Plexus or becoming an ambassador, just go to http://alltherage.myplexusproducts.com/ and read more about it. You can also order from there if you decide to give it a go.
