Tooth? You Can’t Handle the Tooth.

I have a dentist appointment today. It’s just for a routine cleaning, but I suspect it will become more involved once they see the chip in my lower molar. The tooth is healthy, no cavities or anything, but my pernicious habit of grinding my teeth in my sleep is apparently causing some of them to crack and chip.

Great.

This toothy trouble is why I was so glad to read that “Researchers in the Netherlands have successfully created a 3D-printed tooth implant made from an antimicrobial resin that kills harmful bacteria in the mouth. In other words, this is a tooth that effectively cleans itself.”

I have to admit, replacing my own flawed, ground-down chompers with implanted self-cleaning, non-breakable pearly white ivories is tempting.
